There are no designated campsites at this location. Select an area that takes your fancy. No booking system is in place, so it is first in best dressed.

Camping is only permitted on the eastern side of the oval (area indicated on the map). Camping is not permitted near the clubhouse. During the cricket season, you can not camp within 5m of the oval. Perhaps you may want to hope that a good batsman is playing while you are there.

The cost of the camping is $10 per night. It is payable in the foreshore kiosk. All funds go to improvements in Port Victoria.

A dump point is provided. Rubbish bins are also provided near the dump point. Do not use the water at the dump point for drinking.

Drinking water is available on one of the buildings near the toilets. As the building is fenced off, you will need a longish hose. However, the tap is easily accessible. Any sized vehicle can get to both the dump point and drinking water.

Public toilets are provided at this location. Toilet paper is not provided, so bring your own.

It is possible to drive around the full perimeter of the oval making access to facilities easy.

What to Watch Out For at Port Victoria Oval Camping Site

The only negative with this site is the need to go to the kiosk to pay for the camping. An online system would be an improvement. I’d suggest that it would result in fewer people forgetting to pay.

Final Words

This is a good place to base yourself to explore Port Victoria and the surrounding area. We stayed here as we were heading to the nearby Wauraltee (where this post was written). As it was between Christmas and New Year we didn’t know how busy it would be. It was busy but there is a lot of space.

Closeby Campgrounds

For those heading north Mambray Creek Campground in Mount Remarkable National Park is a lovely campground with great facilities.

Not far from Port Victoria is Wauraltee Beach, which offers two camping options: paid camping behind the sand dunes or free camping on the beach.
