Welcome to Road Trip Nomads
Welcome to Road Trip Nomads. We are pleased that you found your way to our website.
We are a couple who have taken early retirement to fulfil our wish to travel Australia in our small caravan. We also do some overseas trips, but that is not what this website is about.
Our aim is to share the knowledge that we accumulate as we travel. What form it will take is still under development so if you have any suggestions please let us know using the contact form.
Why Road Trip Nomads?
There are many travel blogs, so that is a good question. We hope to put our own spin on our adventures. We do not travel at a quick pace and take our time to appreciate the uniqueness of the areas we visit.
All the information you find here comes from our firsthand experiences.
Currently, we are building the structure of the website, so please be patient.
We hope the information here helps you to get the best out of your own road trip.
Who Are We?
We are Rob and Muay, and we hail from Perth, Western Australia. Our biggest passion is to road trip and document what we learn on the way to help others.
In the past, we have completed road trips in Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. This is in addition to road trips completed in New Zealand and Thailand.
For many years, we have planned and dreamt of attaining financial security with the aim of retiring early and hitting the road. That point was achieved by August 2023. After a couple of months of taking stock and preparations, we hit the road.
From Perth we travelled eastwards with no schedule other than a commitment to be in Geelong by the 10th of February 2024. After Tasmania, we travelled through Victoria and New South Wales to Queensland to escape the southern winter. During this time we went Cape York.
Once things warmed up further south, we travelled first inland through Queensland to Brisbane. before hugging the coast through New South Wales and back to Geelong.
We loved Tasmania so much that we decided to spend another nine weeks there.
After crossing back to the mainland, we travelled inland over the mountains to the mighty Murray, which we followed before heading north to the far west of Queensland to escape the winter again.
Eventually, we found ourselves in Cairns preparing for an adventure on the Savannah to Broome in Western Australia. That took us to some very remote and beautiful places.
After Broome, we travelled to Perth after being away for nearly two years.
We are now on a hiatus, having a rest and taking some time to organise things. We will be heading off on a similar trip in April. This trip will take us to the vast interiors of the country.
At present, the website is in its infancy. If you have found this page, I congratulate you. If you have any suggestions, please let us know
