Pentecost River Free Camp Layout and Features

The campground has about 20 campsites to the north of the river crossing. It is on the eastern side of the river. The sites are among the shrubs along the bank or the river and on the other side of the track. There is plenty of sun for solar panels. The sites are generally flat and sandy. Since the sites are close to the track, some sites may experience dust from traffic.

There are no facilities at this site. You must remove everything that you bring with you.

This is a very popular site so you will need to arrive early for the better sites. We stayed one night at the nearby Home Velly Station to ensure that we arrived early. Of course, if you arrive from El Questro, you will also arrive early. El Questro was closed during our trip due to bushfires.

Pentecost River Free Camp Location

The campground is directly to the north of the river crossing and on the eastern bank. The road is sealed from the east until the river crossing. The road from the west in unsealed. As you may expect, the track into the site is unsealed.

The map below shows the campground’s location. You can zoom out for a more general location.
