Campground Layout and Features

Douglas River Campground has about 15 well-spaced, unmarked sites. The number could be greater if people camped closer. The sites are on a fairly level grassed area. Some areas are reserved, so check for signs before setting up camp.

No facilities are provided at this camp. You must remove all rubbish.

Non-potable water is available.

The cost to stay at this camp is $25 a night. You should book before arrival using the phone number provided in this review. The fee is payable on check-in. Ensure that you read the notes under location on where to go to check in, as following your GPS to the coordinates provided to you above will get you to a locked gate.

While there is a requirement to be self-contained, grey water may be discharged on the ground.

Douglas River Campsite Location

Douglas River Campground is 13.3m north along the Tasman Highway (from the sharp bend in the highway in the town). Look for a sign with the number 19029 on it on the left and turn left. Continue to the end of the road where there is a turning loop. You will see the office where you can check in. Once checked in you will receive a key to unlock a gate. There are two gates on the way to the campground. If you book, you will be given all these details.

What to Watch Out For at Douglas River Campground

We did not identify any issues at this campground.

There is an area that contains long-term camps. It is a big of a shanty town but there did not seem to be anyone there during our stay.

Final Words

We enjoyed our time at this campground. It is a relaxed place to stay and a great alternative to the nearby and more popular Cosy Corner and Swimcart Beach sites.

You can book your stay on (03) 6375 1164.
