Campground Layout and Features
The campground has about 20 very wide spread campsites. On some sites you may be 40m from the neighbouring site. During our stay the closest occupied site was 100m away.
The campground has toilets and non-potable water. It is not possible to fill your tanks.
The fee to stay her is $17 per adult per night. For two adults with children the fee is $40 a night. One adult and one or more children is $25 per night. The fee is paid at an honesty box using cash or you may find the caretakers and pay by card.
To stay at this site you must have a Uunguu Visitor Pass ($75 per person for up to five days). You must have this to visit Mitchell Falls. You can either purchase this online or when you pay for the camping.
The site is open from the start of May until the end of September.
From this site you can day trip to Mitchell Falls. We did it, walked both ways to Mitchell falls fairly comfortably. We’d recommend leaving as early as possible if you wish to walk to the falls to get as much of the cool part of the day as possible. The drive in is a bit rough with it getting rougher near the end of the road. Take it easy and it is fine.
Munurru Campsite Location
The campground is accessed via the Kalumburu and Port Warrender Roads. On our visit the conditions on the Kalumburu were very good. You will need to check the conditions before you leave Gibb River Road. The Port Warrender Rd was a bit rougher but still OK.
The map below shows the campground’s location. You can zoom out for a more general location.

Final Words
We stayed two nights at this site and can recommend it. I don’t think that we have ever stayed at such a facility with so much space around campsites.
For details about getting to this site, see our 3-day itinerary that starts near the turn-off from Gibb River Road.
Closeby Campgrounds
If you didn’t stay at Gibb River on the way to this site you should on the way back down.
There is a campground closer to Mitchell Falls but we wouldn’t recommend taking a caravan there due to road conditions: Mitchell Falls Campground.
