Port Julia Campground is located on a disused cricket oval in the town of Port Julia. Port Julia is located 13km north of Port Vincent on the east side of the Yorke Peninsula.
Sealed roads from the north and south provide easy access to the campground. A well-maintained, unsealed road directly connects the town with Port Vincent. We recommend this road for ocean views should you be travelling between the two towns.
The site provides campsites for tents up to large rigs.
The Port Julia Progress Association runs the facility on Reichebach Park. Funds are used to develop facilities in the town.

Campground Layout and Features
Port Julia Campground has 30 designated campsites and an area for tents. The sites are on both sides of a loop road. The site slopes slightly, so you may need to level your van.
On-site facilities include toilets, a dump point and a BBQ. There is water, but it is not potable. There is also a book exchange.
If you are travelling from the north and need water, there is an excellent facility in Pine Point. Up to 355L is $1.
There is a maximum stay of six weeks.
Due to fire regulations vehicles on adjoining sites must be 3m or more apart.
When arriving, you must check in with the caretakers who are in site one on the left as you enter the campground. They will collect the fee and assign a site. If they are not present, you may find a suitable site and set up and sort out the payment later. Payment must be made in cash.
The campground is shown in the photo below.

Activities in the area include fishing, crabbing and walks along the coast on the Walk the Yorke track.

What to Watch Out For at Port Julia Campground
Many of the sites are not level.
There is a bit of a caravan park feel to this campground, with some apparently staying for an extended period.
The facilities are fairly dated but clean and perfectly serviceable.
Final Words
We found the campground to be a pleasurable place to stay. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful.
If you wish to stay hitched up, ask if site 29 is available. This site allows you to drive out through the tent area. In addition to this sites, the caretakers also state that sites 1, 20,21, 22, 23, 26, 28 and 30 are suitable to remain hitched up.
Since our visit, improvements have been made to the campground that should make it more pleasant (see the caretakers’ comments below).

Closeby Campgrounds
If you are crossing to the west coast of the Yorke Peninsula, Wauraltee Beach and Port Victoria are good options
For those heading further south good options are Warooka and Pondalowie Campground in the Innes National Park.
Updated 10/1/25 to update price from $15 per night and $90 per week to $20/$120. Further details added on 15/6/25.
Update to campground facts – multiple sites which allow for overnight stay hooked up situations – sites 1, 20,21, 22, 23, 26, 28, 29 and 30. We as the new caretakers have levelled the uneven sites, planted many Sturt desert peas and other natives. The campers mentioned as “longer term” are actually returning annual campers from interstate who stay for 6 weeks from February through March then return home. We have found this campground to not have a caravan park feel but an extremely relaxing and quiet place to recharge, even on the busy long weekends. Kind regards, Bruce & Jenny – caretakers Port Julia
