Campground Layout and Features
The campground can provide about 5 spaced and unmarked sites. If people wish to be closer, it will provide more, but we do not see that it would have so many campers very often.
The site is on the perimeter of a disused cricket field. You must camp between the arrows indicating where camping is permitted. The site are fairly flat and on a grassed area. During dry periods, the grass is dry.
No facilities are provided, so you need to be totally self-sufficient. All water must be contained, as discharge onto the ground is not permitted.
Near the clubhouse, there is a shelter that could be used in windy conditions.
Take all your rubbish when you leave.
The site is close to the Bass Highway but far enough away from it that noise is not an issue.
The fee to stay at this site is $10 per night. Cash can be placed in a supplied envelope and put into a strong box (shown in the photograph above). Alternatively, payment can be made at the Wonders of Wynyard visitor centre.
Myalla Recreation Ground Location
Myalla Recreation Ground is a 17km drive west of Wynyard and just 300m off the Bass Highway. It is accessed by good-quality sealed roads. The map below shows the campground’s location. You can zoom out for a more general location.
What to Watch Out For at Myalla Recreation Ground
This site is quite exposed to the wind. Other than that, we did not find any issues.
Final Words
This is a quiet site which you may have to yourself. We stayed two nights and only had one other van on the site on one of the nights.
