Murwillumbah Showgrounds is located within easy walking distance of the centre of Murwillumbah. It is an excellent base from which to explore the area and the town.
To stay at Murwillumbah Showgrounds, you must be self-contained, as no water is permitted to be discharged. A dump point is provided to dispose of grey and black water.
A toilet and shower block are provided. Each shower has a single tap. The water temperature is warm enough, but people preferring a cool shower may find them a bit hot. The facilities are clean but a bit run down.
Pets are permitted at this campground.
Tents are not permitted.
As far as we can tell, fires are not permitted.
On arrival, you must check in at reception. You must enter via gate 3 (the coordinates supplied below are near this gate).

Campground Layout and Features
Murwillumbah Showgrounds has about 40 well-spaced and marked campsites, mainly grassed areas. A small number of sites are on a firm gravel base (note that the gravel area is not present in the Google map below). We recommend requesting a grassed site if that is what you prefer. The area is mostly flat, and most sites have plenty of sun for solar power.
Sites are all powered, and water hookups are provided.
Take note that large mats are not permitted on the grass. A small doormat is acceptable.
Rubbish bins are provided.
The site has a dump point.
The cost of a site is $35 per night for a couple. If you are travelling alone you will be hit up for $30 a night. The fee is paid at reception when you check-in. There is a maximum stay of seven days.
Once you are checked in you will be shown to your assigned site.

We did not see any issues at this site.
Be aware that the Murwillumbah show is held over the first week in November. If you plan on staying at this time it would be a good idea to check the dates.
Final Words
Our recommendation is to get a grassed site. The lawn is well maintained and provides a comfortable camp.

If you are travelling north, you may like to consider staying at Sharp Park, which is located inland from the Gold Coast.
Red Devils Camping in Byron Bay, to the south of Murwillumbah, is a reasonable place to stay while there.
