Campground Layout and Features
Marlborough Hotel Campground has well-spaced 10 to 12 campsites on a grassed area. The area is fairly flat, but you may need to level your van.
Two combined toilet and shower rooms are provided. They are unisex, and we found them to be clean and work well. They may be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
Rubbish bins are provided.
Other than the rubbish bins, toilets and showers no other facilities are provided for campers. Of course, you are encouraged to use the facilities within the hotel. They provide generous sized meals and as many cold beers as you would like.
The fee to stay at this campground is $5 per person per night, payable inside the hotel. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and it can get busy.
There are two entrances to the campground. You can enter Railway Street or Milman Street, the latter of which is easier 1 access.
Marlborough Hotel Campground Location
Marlborough is located 106km north-west of Rockhampton along the Bruce Highway. The hotel is about 1km off the highway, and the campground is accessible by good-quality roads. The map below shows the location of the hotel and campground. You can zoom out for a more general location.
What to Watch Out For at Marlborough Hotel Campground
During our night we did not identify any issues while at this campground. However, there are reports that the publican can be quite rude. We had no interaction with him and found that his employees was cheerful and helpful.
The campground is located near the rail line. This is in use during the day and we did not hear any trains late at night.
If you use Wikicamps they identify a source of water near the hotel. This tap is locked and there is no other source of water nearby.
Final Words
We really enjoyed our relax during our stay here.
There is a museum close to the hotel. Nearby, there is a small shop and coffee shop.
