Campground Layout and Features

Lake Tyers Beach Tavern Campground has about 25 sites. There are 9 marked sites; however, management expects each numbered site to have two occupants (see What to Watch Out For below).  Other sites are available outside of the marked sites. Some of these sites are on grassed areas. The sites are fairly flat.

The numbered sites and two additional sites are on course gravel.

Power and water connections are available in the area of the marked sites. There is also sullage.

There is a small amenities book containing two combined toilet and shower room. These are unisex.

There is a laundry with a single machine that costs $4 per load. There is a washing line to dry clothes.

Rubbish bins are provided. However, during our visit, they were overflowing.

The first two nights are free. Any additional nights are at a cost of $25.

The site is accessed via Gully Road. They ask that people go to the tavern before claiming a site. However, I’d suggest claiming a site before doing so. The tavern is found at the end of the gravel road.

Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lake Tyers Beach Tavern Location

What to Watch Out For at Lake Tyers Beach Tavern

This site gets glowing reviews. There are not many free camps that offer the same facilities and perhaps no others offer free power. However, nothing is perfect. During our visit, it was very busy. As a result everyone was very close to each other. Any space that could possibly be occupied was. If you don’t like being this close to others you may want to give this one a miss during busy periods.

Final Words

If you don’t mind crowded places, this is a great facility. We like a bit of space so found it, well, too crowded. Still the owner is to be commended for supplying this free campground.

Obviously, the tavern sells drinks and food, and you are encouraged to support it. However, the food prices are a bit higher than normal pub grub.

Closeby Campgrounds

If you are travelling east you may like to consider staying at Eight Trees Campground near Orbost and/or Cann River Caravan Park.

If you plan on travelling to Sale you may like to stay at Sale Showgrounds.
