Campground Layout and Features

Genoa Campground has more than 30 unmarked sites, the number of which depends on how people park and space themselves. Please note that this is a highly popular site.

The sites are on well-maintained grassed areas. The area is mostly flat. Many sites are well shaded with some providing more than others. There should be no issue obtaining sufficient solar energy.

There is a small toilet block. These facilties are available to the general public. While we where there they were not the cleanest toilets we have found.

Rubbish bins are provided near the tennis court.

Although no laundry facility exists, a washing line is available for drying.

Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is not a free campground, and a donation is expected to help pay for the area’s maintenance. If people don’t donate, these sites will disappear like many others.

The site is close to the Princes Highway. However, the road is quiet at night. Any traffic did not disturb our sleep.

The maximum stay at this site is three nights.

Genoa Campsite Location

Genoa Campground is located on the Princes Highway. It is a 26km drive northwest of the coastal town of Mallacoota. The map below shows the campground’s location. You can zoom out for a more general location.

What to Watch Out For at Genoa Campground

The bridge between the campground and the townsite was destroyed in a bushfire. The replacement bridge is only for pedestrians. As such, you can not enter the campground by driving through the township. If you are travelling from the east, cross the Genoa River before turning off the Princes Highway. The rest area is well signposted.

There are resident chickens and roosters. You may be woken early. We were not disturbed by them.

During holiday periods, plan to arrive early as it does fill. We arrived just after New Year’s and there were people arriving after 5pm who could not find a site and left.

Final Words

This is a great and popular facility. We highly recommend it.
