Duck Lagoon Campground is a small council-operated facility. It is adjacent to Duck Lagoon on Brown Creek. It is surrounded by farmland and is close to some historical ruins.
Duck Lagoon Campground is a good place to explore Kingscote and the surrounding area. Other activities in the area include bird watching and exploring the historical ruins from when eucalyptus oil production was more common on Kangaroo Island.

The campground is 15km south-west of Kingscote. It is accessed by the unsealed road Duck Lagoon Rd. Duck Lagoon Rd is a well-maintained road that is suitable for all vehicles.
Toilets are provided, and all grey water should be contained.
Pets are permitted at this site
A fire ring is provided for use outside of fire restriction periods.

Campground Layout and Features
There are two designated campsites at Duck Creek. They are all located on a small grassed area to one side of the carpark. If you have a caravan site 2 is the easiest to reverse into and leave from.
Payment can only be made in cash that is placed in an envelope that goes into a strong box. As with all council-operated sites on Kangaroo Island, the fee is $23 and $8 per person after the first two.
The campground has two flushing toilets, a gas BBQ and picnic tables in the day-use area. Rubbish bins are also provided. Close by are two bird hides for bird watching.
Duck Lagoon Campsite Location
The location of the campground is shown in the map below. For a more general location zoom out. Please ignore the location in which the vans are parked in the image below. You can only camp in the marked sites on the grassed area to the right of the vans.
What to Watch Out For at Duck Lagoon Campground
We found no issues at this ground. However, try not to arrive late at this site. During our two nights, we found some people arrived late and left early. I am sure that many people have observed this elsewhere and come to a similar conclusion as myself as to why they do this.
Final Words
We recommend this site. Take some time to explore the area and the ruins.
The ruins in the area are from when eucalyptus oil was produced. If you explore the ruins and want to learn about the process, we recommend visiting Emu Ridge. They are actively producing eucalyptus oil. For a small fee, there is a self-guided tour of their operation.
While there are only two designated sites it would be possible for a third site between them. However, don’t tell the council that I told you so.
You can book this campsite online.
