Cann River Caravan Park

While we do not usually review caravan parks, Cann River Caravan Park is not your typical one, as it is currently free to stay.

Cann River Caravan Park is a rest area near the town of Cann River and adjacent to the Cann River. The campground is managed by the local council. At the time of writing, the council had waived all fees, and the campground provided basic facilities. Upgrades in the future may return the site to a paid facility.

Cann River Caravan Park Layout and Features

The caravan park has about 30 marked and unmarked sites. There are three areas in which you may camp. The main area appears to be where the caravan park put paying customers. This area has reverse and drive-through sites. The sites are level and are covered by patchy (and dry) grass. This area has water hookups. Adjacent to the main area, there is a green grass area. There are no marked sites and the ground undulates at bit. There is a second grassed area at the rear of the property with more unmarked sites. The two latter areas do not have water hookups.

While the main area has power connections, no power is available. This area does have sullage.

There is a small amenities block containing cold showers. There is a laundry room, but the machines have been removed. Near this block is also a washing and drying line.

Rubbish bins are scattered around the area. As with other bins we saw in the area, the council needs to empty them more often. All the bins were full, and people had begun putting rubbish near them.

There is a dump point near the amenities block.

Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The site is close to the Princes Highway. However, the road is quiet at night. Any traffic did not disturb our sleep.

The maximum stay at this site is two nights.
